Ever
since I was a little girl, I wanted to be a mom. As I
grew into my teenage years, I began to develop some
health problems that the doctors diagnosed as
Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome
and failure to ovulate and have a monthly cycle. So, I
knew then that I would possibly have trouble conceiving
a child in the future.
I married my husband Josh in 2003, and after about a
year of marriage we started trying to have a baby. I
wanted to see if I could get pregnant on my own before
seeking the help from my doctor. We were unsuccessful,
so the journey of infertility treatments began. My
gynecologist suggested trying Clomid to induce egg
production and help with ovulation, but after about
three months of that and no baby, she sent me and my
husband to Nashville Tennessee to Dr. Jaime Vasquez for
further evaluation and treatment.
I had asked her to refer us to Dr. Vasquez because I had
heard good things about him from an individual that
worked at the same facility I did at the time. She told
me that she went to Dr. Vasquez, and she was really
pleased with the entire treatment process. So, my
husband and I decided to make our first appointment. I
am sure glad we did. From the very first appointment,
we were treated like individuals. He performed certain
tests designed to find out what was really going on with
me. He told us that not every test and treatment needs
to be the same for every situation, which made me feel
good that Dr. Vasquez wanted to get down to what was
really causing my infertility.
After a few tests, it was
determined that I would need to go through In
Vitro Fertilization
(IVF) to possibly have a chance of conceiving. And
after the entire process was complete, we conceived our
son Braden. The pregnancy started out rough, but Dr.
Vasquez and his office staff were always willing to see
me on short notice and give me encouragement that the
baby and I were going to be ok. Shortly after Dr.
Vasquez released me to go back to my OB/GYN, my husband
and I both lost our jobs. It was a very unnerving time
for us, but we knew that if we could get through
infertility together, then with God's help we could get
through the rest of the pregnancy and unemployment
together. If it had not been for our incredibly
supportive and loving family and friends, it would have
been much harder on us. But, I will never regret having
to go through the infertility process, because it has
made me and my husband both stronger and able to handle
what life sometimes hands to us.
Braden
was born on May 12th, 2007. I look at him every day and
think to myself what a miracle from God! He was
perfectly healthy despite all odds. I thank the Lord
everyday that He provided Dr. Vasquez and his staff the
knowledge to help all of the hopeful couples who could
not conceive on their own experience the miracle of
life.
